Take time out with family or friends, plus it is ideal for those who want to explore the North Coast and tourist hotspots. Thornfield Farm has been in the farming community for decades and continues to be a small working farm. Connect with nature while free range chickens roam the grounds of the farm and ewe’s and lambs graze the fields.
Situated in the heart of the North Coast Thornfield Farm’s unique pods are located on private farmland, 10 minute’s walk from the famous Dark Hedges (1 mile in the car), or a short journey from the village of Bushmills, home of the world’s oldest whiskey distillery and famous Giant’s Causeway.
The pods are a central location between Ballycastle and Bushmills, so perfectly placed on the North Coast for a short break or as part of a tour of the North Coast. In the local area you are in short driving distance of restaurants, pubs, and popular north coast tourism attractions.
The pods are suitable for both couples and families with a double bed and bunk beds (for 15 years and under). We have lots of options for your to book over the year from the basic pod, or special offers and add-ons.
Re-Opening Dates – Our pod sites are officially re-opening from 30th April
We are open all year round, but please note that there is a minimum 2 night stay during July and August. Limited availability 1 night stays for July and August will be released in June.
All the pods on site are off the same standard and include everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay. You are in a group of 5 pods on our farm site looking out to the mountains, but within walking distance of the Dark Hedges and Gracehill House.
We are open all year round, but please note that there is a minimum 2 night stay during July and August. Limited availability 1 night stays for July and August will be released in June.
You also have a dedicated fire pit at your pod with outdoor seating. There is limited access to the farm, but we are asking guests to please take care with themselves and little children. Facilities include:

Covid-19 Quick Update
We have a dedicated page on policies and procedures that we are adopting above our normal procedures. Please see our dedicated COVID advice section. Our pod sites are already well placed to open with social distancing in mind due to the features below:
- Self-check-in and out so minimal contact with staff
- Smaller pod sites in an outdoor setting
- No internal communal areas, restaurants or bar areas
- Each pod is at a minimum 3 metres apart from another pod so we can adhere to social distancing of customers
- Pods are cleaned to the highest standards, with now enhanced Coronavirus procedures, and all linen is professionally laundered
- Food can be supplied safely, but customers are welcome to bring their own
What you Need to Know
Check-In/Out
We operate a self check-in and check out system for your ease and convenience. The site host is available should you require assistance and contact details are provided with your check-in email.
- Check-in is after 3pm
- Check-out is by 10am
Please note that the accommodation and package add-on’s are all paid for in advance via the website due to the self-check in procedures.
Internet/WiFi:
There is a user guide in your pod that gives you the WiFi access codes. Information about the WiFi code is in your pod user guide.
Security/Privacy
You will be provided with a key pad code to access the key for the pod and the doors are all lockable for your safety and security.
There is a privacy glass feature for night – details available in the pod section and in the user guide provided in the pod.
Lighting
There is ambient lighting on the site for night time.
Beds
There is a double bed and bunk beds suitable for children 15 years and under. An additional cot can be provided for children under 2 years. The price is per pod not per person so there is no additional charge for children.
Heating, Electric & Water
Electric and power points are available in the pod including USB points. Running water is available in the shower room area, plus a full height shower. There is a towel radiator in the shower room, and within the pod there is a fully integrated fan heater, which you can adjust via the manual thermostat found in the wardrobe area.
Kitchenette
There is a tea/coffee making area, mini fridge, plus cutlery set if you wish to bring along continental style breakfast/snacks etc. So feel free to bring additional food items (or wine!). There is also a dedicated fire pit outside the pod so you can place a disposable BBQ there.
House Keeping
Bed linens, towels, and toiletries are provided, but feel free to bring extra. We have also provided an additional basin and washing up items so that you can use the bathroom sink to clean up dishes/utensils that are used. We thank you in advance for doing this for us!
Parking
There is a dedicated parking area beside the pods and car parking is free.
Pets
Unfortunately the site is not suitable for pets, but it is something we are looking to in the future.

Within the pod there is a user guide which tells you all about the features of the pod – how to take down the bed, the privacy glass feature for night, lighting etc.

Pre-ordering – in line with our COVID-19 safety procedures, for planning and to minimise contact with staff, we are asking guests to please try pre-order these items at least 3 days in advance of your stay date, as they will be set up and ready to go at your pod for your convenience. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, however, you are able to go off site and purchase BBQ items from any local store.
Please note: Alternatives cannot be provided (including Gluten or Vegan), and we cannot guarantee that foods have been made in a nut free environment.

Our Thornhill Farm Luxury Glamping pods are the perfect option for accommodation near the Dark Hedges. The site offers an unparalleled mixture of opulence, style, and easy access to a number of Game of Thrones filming locations.
The Dark Hedges are two rows of beech trees, which were planted in the 1700s to cover the road to the Stuart Family’s Georgian mansion.
Today. they’re better known for their prominence in HBO’s Game of Thrones, In fact, these days they’re one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland.
A short drive from the Causeway Coastal Route`s major attractions, Giants Causeway, and Game of Thrones film sites: Ballintoy Harbour and The Dark Hedges.

Giant’s Causeway / Bushmills Distillery
The site is a short journey from the village of Bushmills, home of the world’s oldest whiskey distillery, the famous Giant’s Causeway and Carrick- a Rede Rope Bridge.

Ballintoy Harbour
10 minutes car drive (8 miles) will take you to the small coastal village of Ballintoy, where you can cross the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, fish in the Wild Atlantic Sea at Ballintoy Harbour or go on a romantic stroll along Whitepark Bay.
Kinbane Castle
The name Kinbane means white head and refers to the white limestone on which the castle stands. The path down to the castle remains is narrow and stepped and not for the faint hearted. Kinbane Castle is a State Care Historic Monument sited in the townland of Cregganboy, in Moyle District Council area. The area surrounding Kinbane Castle is a Scheduled Historic Monument, it also offers spectacular views of Rathlin Island and Dunagregor Iron Age fort.
Murlough Bay
It is a hidden gem off the main causeway coastal route. The road leading down is steep, winding and there are some local sheep and deer running free. Take care travelling to and from this must-see spot which has even featured in Game of Thrones.
Fairhead
Enjoy breath taking views from the cliff edge of Fairhead on this ruggedly, beautiful and wild walk. The distance from the carpark to the cliff edge is between 1.5-3.4 miles. Expect stunning coastal views towards Ballycastle and Rathlin Island and look down on the picturesque Murlough Bay. You’ll also pass historic loughs and open green farmland on one of the many walk options which are guaranteed to invigorate the senses.

PLEASE NOTE: We operate a contactless self-check-in system so we require full payment for accommodation is required at the time of booking. You can book just the pod only, and at the end of your booking it will show you a range of options on the optional extra’s such as breakfast, camp fire pack and BBQ – these items will be only RESERVED and charged for closer to you stay.
There are also options to pre-book packages such as the ‘pod and campfire’ or ‘pod and breakfast’ so that you know that these are completely sorted before your stay.

Once you have a confirmed booking an email confirmation will be sent to you. All the information you need will then be emailed closer to the time – how to find us, what to bring, things to do and see, what’s in the pod etc.
Full t&c’s are in the booking engine, please note that each pod site has its own booking engine and nights cannot be exchanged across pod sites as we operate with different host partners. Our standard t&c’s are very flexible with up to 14 days notice to cancel or amend a booking if required.

Your Host
Thornfield Farm is managed by Sandra and Wesley who live on the farm and will be your welcoming host on site. Thornfield Farm has been in the farming community for decades and continues to be a small working farm.

Sandra is also a keen crafter so you will see options for afternoon tea with handmade linens, small fairy area will be available to enjoy the magical mystery within the beautiful landscape. Craft classes will also be coming in future dates.
Each pod has a view out to the mountains, and are cosy in both Summer and Winter. Great for family time, visiting the Dark Hedges or a romantic break. Sandra, Wesley, and boys Harry and Jack make for a welcoming feeling on the pod site.
