1. Climb Slieve Donard

Take a hike up Northern Irelands Highest Peak, Slieve Donard. The views from the summit are extensive and on a clear day the Isle of Man, Wicklow, Donegal, Wales and Scotland may be seen, as well as the long stretch of Newcastle Beach.

2. Explore Murlough National Nature Reserve and Beach

Murlough is an excellent area for walking and bird watching due to its spectacular location at the edge of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains.

It offers the best and most extensive example of dune heath within Ireland, a network of paths and boardwalks through the dunes, woodland and heath with an array of butterflies and wild flowers.

3. Visit Silent Valley and Ben Crom

Silent Valley Reservoir in the heart of the Mourne Mountains is one of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland. Enjoy a short hike above this pretty reservoir in the Mourne Mountains. 

4. Step into the Narnia Trail at Kilbroney Forest

This family loop trail takes you through woodland at Kilbroney Park in Rostrevor. The famous writer, C S Lewis, as a young boy, spent much holiday time in the Mournes and Rostrevor. This family trail seeks to capture the imagination of children of all ages.

5. Visit Fort Evergreen

Fort Evergreen offers children the opportunity to see, learn about and interact with animals through activities such as bottle-feeding lambs, hand-feeding sheep and goats, grooming ponies and stroking rabbits and guinea pigs.

6. Tee off at Royal County Down

Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Enjoy a day of golf and head back to the pods to relax in the afternoon.

On the shores of Carlingford Lough, the Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails powered by Chain Reaction Cycles offer some challenging mountain biking where efforts are rewarded with incredible coastal views and exhilarating singletrack descents.

9. Get up close with Cranfield Aplacas

10. Hike up Rocky Mountain, Tornamrock and Pierces Castle

Just a short walk from the pods is Rocky Mountain. Explore Rocky Mountain, Tornamrock and Pierces Castle- this trail is great for hiking and walking.
